New Library Fundraising
We've done it! In September 2013, Mr Bown asked the PTA to raise exclusively for a new centralised library. It was a mighty challenge, with estimates for funding needed in excess of £12,000.
The year started well, with our Fundraising Team securing £6,500 courtesy of the Leamington Round Table (£2,500) and the Tesco Fund (£4,000)! Thank you to Lucy Marcovitch, Bev Stephens, Tess Robinson for tracking down the funding opportunities and completing the extremely lengthy application forms. And thank you also to Jon Hill & Tristan Stephens who successfully gained the award from the Leamington Round Table.

The Siobhan Dowd Trust
Unfortunately, we weren't selected for a grant from the Siobhan Dowd Trust. Obviously we were very disappointed, but competition was fierce and there were many in the running. Thank you to the children who took part in the video that was produced and to Lucy Marcovitch and Nicola Hill for all their hard work too.
We then heard our application to The Foyle Foundation was unsuccessful also. It's a blow to be turned down, particularly when so much work goes into completing the lengthy application forms! Thank you to Tess Robinson and Bev Stephens for co-ordinating our efforts.
Nevertheless, and thanks in no small part to the dedication and hard work of the PTA and all of you, the families who make up our school, along with our corporate sponsors and donors, we managed to hit our target of £15,000 - in one school year! Thank you to all of you who helped make this seemingly impossible goal a reality. Thank you for supporting our events, volunteering, attending and being the embodiment of 'we can do it'! We're absolutely delighted and incredibly proud of what we, as a school community, can achieve. It's a true testament to the whole school and we couldn't be more proud. Thank you to all of you who helped make this seemingly impossible goal a reality.
The Autumn / Winter 2014 terms were used to cherry pick and catalogue of all the best books for the library (in line with the new curriculum) with each being individually entered onto the new Cloud-based software. It's been a mammoth task and volunteers have been helping Mrs Sanghera sort the many thousands of books.
The official opening took place on 24th March. Author and illustrator Petr Horacek was booked to run story-telling and art workshops throughout the day and produced a permanent mural with the children's help. We invited our corporate sponsors, members of the press, PTA parents, staff and TAs. It was a wonderful day. The Junior librarians have been selected and all children have been able to pick books to take home - our library is up and running and being enjoyed by all.
